How To: Pluck and Shape Eyebrows

TIPS: When trying to determine the following points, it may help to use a straight makeup brush or tooth brush handle. Angled tweezers are the best for grasping those small hairs that can be a little difficult to reach.

A. When shaping your eyebrows you need to imagine a line going up the side of your nostril, alongside your eye and to your forehead. This line marks where the inner edge of your brow should be. If you have stray hairs between your eyes, now is the time to pluck any that fall between the two lines you create in this step.

B. Starting at your nostril, along the outer edge of your eye and up to your eyebrow shows where the outside edge of your brow should be.

C. Line up your toothbrush or brush handle with the outside edge of your eye, straight up, to find the point where your brow should arch.

After you have determined what hairs fall outside of the area you should ideally keep, it is time to brush or smooth out your brow hairs, using either a mascara wand or a brow brush. When you begin to pluck stray hairs, start below the brow and remove only those that are obviously out of place and continue to smooth your brow hairs as you go along to ensure that you are achieving the look you intend. When plucking hairs, be sure to only pull one at a time, and pull in the direction the hair is growing for the smoothest and least painful removal.
